Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors/$4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. All ages welcome Today’s topic is “Nests and Nooks.” Birds make their homes high and low, in nests, in holes or on rocks. Explore the handiwork of nature’s feathered architects.

Earth Day Celebration: Noon-4 p.m. April 20. $2 per person/donations gratefully accepted. Enjoy earth-friendly exhibitors, entertainment, food, nature crafts, and fun activities. Local beekeepers, urban gardeners, sheep shearing, and wool spinning will all be part of the many attractions. Tour green buildings, explore the trails and learn what you can do to improve the health of the planet.


Wednesday Night Hikes: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday nights throughout the month. Locations vary. Refer to www.meetup.com/webercountyoutdoors or email wasatchhikers@gmail.com for more info.


Mueller Park Hike: April 16th. This hike is six miles round trip and approximately three to four hours. We will hike across a clear area where the Kern Creek pipeline crosses the canyon causing a scar on the landscape, and then to a rock called “Elephant Head” where we will turn around. Call Larry at 801-690-4335 for meeting place and time.

Ogden River Clean Up — Big D Sports Park: April 20. If you enjoy the Ogden River Parkway, join us for a Saturday morning to help clean this place up. A lot of garbage has accumulated over the winter months. Wear some old, grubby clothing, sturdy shoes and gloves. You will get dirty and maybe a little bit wet. We will finish around noon. Bird Walks: Today at Willard Bay. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at McDonald’s (1838 W. 2700 North, just east of Exit 349 on I-15) for breakfast or at 8:30 a.m. to carpool. This is a fee area.

Thursday: Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Meet in the refuge Education Center parking lot at 5:30 p.m. We’ll check the center trail, then head out to the loop and bird until sunset. The trip should take about 90 minutes with an opportunity to socialize afterward. Some walking on flat trails. No dogs or children under 12.

April 17: Two Rivers Trail. Meet at 8 a.m. at Denny’s restaurant for breakfast (North on 1100 West from 21st Street, in the Flying J Plaza on your left) or meet there at 9 a.m. for carpooling.

WAS Meeting: 7 p.m. April 16 at Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St. Paul Higgins, renowned local photographer, will share his passion for birds through photos taken during his many forays into various habitat types, including backyards, in search of his new “favorite” bird.


Sixth Annual Ogden Climbing Festival: Wednesday through Sunday at Weber State. Pre-festival kickoff events, free gear demo, bouldering competition, free BBQ, free climbing clinics, keynote presentation by climber Hayden Kennedy, after party, and annual boulder field cleanup.
