Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Free for ONC members/ $2 children/ $3 seniors/ $4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. Today’s topic is “Accipiters: Aces of the Forest.” Sharpies! Coops! Goshawks! Utah is home to these three types of accipiters, also known as the true hawks. Meet the Ogden Nature Center’s own goshawk and discover how accipiters survive in forests.

Handmade Journals with Adele Greenleaf: 6 p.m. Feb. 28. $30 members/ $35 non-members (includes materials). Ages 14 and up. Create a simple yet sophisticated journal with a beautifully sewn binding. Perfect for field, garden or travel notes. Please pre-register by today.

WEBER PATHWAYS

Wasatch Hikers: 6:30 p.m. tonight at Wheeler Creek in Ogden Canyon. From the lower trailhead, we will hike to the Art Nord Trailhead. Depending on conditions, we will follow the road toward Snowbasin, then hike down Ice Box Canyon for a total distance of about 4.5 miles. Meet at the trailhead just below and across the street from Pineview Dam.

WASATCH AUDUBON

Bird Walks: Today at South Ogden Nature Park. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at McDonald’s (5745 S. Harrison) for breakfast or at 8 a.m. to carpool.

Feb. 29: Antelope Island Causeway and Fielding Garr Ranch. Meet at McDonald’s (Riverdale Road and 900 West) at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast or at 9 a.m. to carpool. Alternatively, you can meet the group at the parking lot near the entrance at 9:30 a.m. Remember this is a fee area.

Field Trip: 8 a.m. Saturday. Morgan Bald Eagle Count. Meet at the DWR Office in S. Ogden (515 E. 5300 South) at 8 a.m. This is a great opportunity to see Bald and Golden Eagles and Turkeys. We will stop at the Spring Chicken Inn in Morgan for Breakfast.

MISCELLANEOUS

The Layton Wild Bird Center will host a free bird walk at 10 a.m. Saturday at Beus Pond. Meet at the Wild Bird Center, 1860 N. 1000 West. The walks are led by Bill Fenimore or another local bird expert. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. We will return to the store within a few hours. Call 801-525-8400 for more information.

Brighton Ski Resort will teach a two-part avalanche awareness and backcountry skills course from 4-8 p.m. tonight and 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Thursday on the mountain. $40.
