Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors / $4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. All ages welcome. Today’s topic is “Summer Celebration.” Come celebrate the summer solstice at the Ogden Nature Center. Find out why some days are longer than others. With the help of a few live animals, discover how animals and plants, including us, adjust to the long days of summer.
Sunshine Breakfast Benefit: 7:45-8:45 a.m. Friday. Free breakfast to benefit Ogden Nature Center. Donations gratefully accepted. RSVP required by June 15 to 801-621-7595. Space is limited. Wasatch Hikers: Wednesday evening hiking group can be found every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. hiking a different trail in the Ogden area. Our creed is exercise is good for the body, mind and soul. The trails in the area are better than the gym. So if you want a group to hang with, or just have time for just one hike, we look forward to meeting a new friend. Singles Mingles Hikes: If you’re 45 years old or older, single, and want to mingle…come join Polly on a wonderful series of trail outings. These outings are on most Thursdays at 6 p.m. and won’t last longer than two hours. Outings will run until Sept. 29. This is a great way to meet other singles in the area and enjoy nature together. Bird Walks: Today at Lagoon Trail in Farmington. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at McDonald’s (Riverdale Road and 900 West) for breakfast or at 8 a.m. to carpool.
June 27: Riverdale Trail (South). Meet at 7:30 a.m. at McDonald’s (Riverdale Road and 900 West) for breakfast or at 8 a.m. at the trailhead parking lot (from Riverdale Road, south on 700 West for one block, then left on 4600 West to lot on right at the end of road).
Field Trip: 8 a.m. Saturday. Annual Bluebird Nest Box Census. Meet at Smith’s (12th & Harrison in Ogden) at 8 a.m. This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with Mountain Bluebird, Tree Swallow, and House Wren eggs or young. Summer Summit Series: 6 a.m. Sunday. Ben Lomond Peak via North Skyline Trail. Non-technical, but excellent fitness required. Meet at the top of North Ogden Divide in the parking lot.
Golden Spike Gem & Mineral Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the Wattis-Dumke Room on the second floor Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave., Ogden.
