Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors / $4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. Today’s topic is “Shorebirds 101.” Get up close and personal with Einstein the American White Pelican, whose beak can hold more than his belly can. Learn about the special adaptations that shorebirds have. Discuss the importance of Great Salt Lake and learn about different shorebirds that call Utah home.
Call for Birdhouse Entries: Deadline is Saturday. Enter your hand-crafted birdhouses in the 19th Annual Birdhouse Competition and Exhibit. All ages may enter up to two works, and there is no entry fee. For complete guidelines and an entry form visit www.ogdennaturecenter.org.
Egg-cellent Adventure — Birds not Bunnies Egg Hunt: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. $3 members / $5 non-members. In this activity, participants will learn about nesting birds found around the Nature Center and then try their hand at bird identification. Several nests with painted wooden eggs will be the object of the hunt. Locate and record your finds from each nest to win a prize. Make and take crafts and bird stuff to explore. Please RSVP by 5 p.m. Friday.
Wasatch Hikers: 6:30 p.m. tonight at Skyline Trail, Pineview Leg. The trail climbs at a steady 10 percent grade to a 6,320-foot ridge with sweeping views of Ogden Valley. Meet at the trailhead at 6:30 p.m. or carpool from the Dinosaur Park at 6:15 p.m. At Pineview Dam, go north across the dam on Hwy. 158 and continue 1.5 miles to the Skyline Pineview trailhead sign, located on the right. Kayak roll session: 8-10 p.m. Thursday at Weber State Swimming Pool. $8 with own equipment/$20 equipment included. Ages 16 and up. No prior experience necessary, but swimming proficiency required. The Ogden Archery World Cup Organizing Committee is conducting a nationwide search for an aspiring young journalist to become an Archery Fan Reporter during the third stage of the 2012 Archery World Cup in June. Reporters will videotape, edit, embed music, write scripts and arrange interviews. Those interested may submit a three to five minute video and 300 to 500 word description communicating why they should become the next Archery Fan Reporter. Deadline is April 30. Submissions may be emailed to email@example.com. The position is open to journalism students between the ages of 16 and 30.
