The Ogden Nature Center is located at 966 W. 12th St. in Ogden. For more information, please visit www.ogdennaturecenter.org or call 801-621-7595.

Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors/$4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. All ages welcome. Today’s topic is “Gobble, Gobble: Wild Wednesdays Celebrates Thanksgiving.” Test your gobbling skills against the Ogden Nature Center’s two resident turkeys. The more you learn about these unique birds the faster you’ll discover there is more to the turkey than meets the palate.

Moonlight Magic: 7:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 28. $4 members/$5 non-members. All ages welcome. Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist for a full moon fireside program about moon phases and lore, and the adaptations some animals have which allow them to navigate in the dark. There will be a short night hike following the program to listen for night sounds. This program will be held outdoors. Please dress for the weather and bring a blanket if you wish. Please RSVP by 4 p.m. Nov. 27 to 801-621-7595.

Wednesday Night Hikes: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday nights throughout the month. Locations vary. Please refer to www.meetup.com/webercountyoutdoors or email wasatchhikers@gmail.com for more info.

Turkey Burn Hike: Saturday. We’ll hike to Frary Peak, the highest point on Antelope Island — a thoroughly original state park that sits in the Great Salt Lake (second saltiest body of water in the world). It is about seven miles round trip with more than 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail rises quickly and is challenging in some areas. We will burn calories. The hike runs through sparse grass and sage on this desert island as well as fascinating rock that dates back 2.7 billion years. Call Joanie for details at 801-399-0034.

Bird Walks: Today at Willard Bay (South). Meet at 8:15 a.m. at McDonald’s (1838 W. 2700 North, Farr West — just east of I-15 exit 349) for breakfast or at 8:45 a.m. to carpool. This is a fee area.

Nov. 28: South Ogden Nature Park. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at McDonald’s (5745 S. Harrison Blvd.) for breakfast or at 9 a.m. to carpool.

Field Trip: 8 a.m. Saturday at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. The ponds should have water in them and the Tundra Swans should be back. Meet at Harmon’s (2nd Street & Washington Boulevard in Ogden). Bring a lunch and water.

Board Meeting: 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St. All members welcome to attend.

Golden Spike Gem & Mineral Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the Wattis-Dumke Room on the second floor of Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave., Ogden. This month’s program includes how to stabilize fractured gem rough. Guests are always welcome to our meetings. Join the club, enjoy the fun field trips, and start a new rock hobby. Questions?
