Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors/$4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. All ages welcome. Today’s topic is “Living Close to the Land.” Join the Ogden Nature Center education team for tales and demonstrations of plant and animal uses by indigenous cultures. Step back in time as you step into a real life tipi.
Moonlight Magic: 7:30-8:30 p.m. tonight. $4 members/$5 non-members. All ages welcome. Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist for a full moon fireside program about moon phases and lore, and the adaptations some animals have which allow them to navigate in the dark. There will be a short night hike following the program to listen for night sounds. This program will be held outdoors. Dress for the weather and bring a blanket if you wish.
Bird Walks: Today at South Ogden Nature Park. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at McDonald’s (5745 S. Harrison Blvd.) for breakfast or at 9 a.m. to carpool.
Kayak roll session: 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Weber State Swimming Pool. $8 with own equipment/$20 equipment included. Ages 16 and up. No prior experience necessary, but swimming proficiency required. Come join the experienced team from Rapid Progression Kayak School as they provide some great instruction on how to roll. ACA-certified instructors. Wolf Mountain Resort will open for the 2012-13 ski season at 9 a.m. today. The beginner lift will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering access to two runs. Lift ticket prices will be $15 for either day or night skiing or snowboarding.
