Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. Free for ONC members/ $2 children/ $3 seniors/ $4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. All ages welcome. Today’s topic is “Migration Station.” Are you ready to migrate back to school? Kick off the start of another school year by learning about animal migration. Meet live animals that migrate and learn how they travel long distances to find food and shelter.
Scout Saturdays: 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. $5 per scout. The Ogden Nature Center provides the perfect outdoor classroom for scout activities. Have an ONC teacher/naturalist help your scout pass off merit badge requirements during these 45-minute classes. Reservations and a non-refundable deposit are required. Kundalini Yoga: Eight-week session for beginners to intermediate. Monday evenings, Sept. 17 through Nov. 5 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. $45 members/ $50 non-members. This Kundalini Yoga class is ideal for beginners or for those who want a gentle Kundalini practice. Bring your own yoga mat and blanket. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and we recommend not eating for at least two hours before the start of class. Pre-register by calling 801-621-7595.
Singles Mingles Hikes: If you’re 45 years old or older, single, and want to mingle…come join Polly on a wonderful series of trail outings. These outings are on most Thursdays at 6 p.m. and won’t last longer than two hours. Outings will run until Sept. 29. This is a great way to meet other singles in the area and enjoy nature together. Sardine Peak hike: Saturday to Sardine Peak in the Snowbasin area. Eight-mile loop, four hours, about 800 feet of elevation gain, moderate. We will hike to the top of Sardine Peak on a recently cut trail where we will get stellar views of Ogden Canyon and Pineview Dam. The trail winds through stands of evergreens, aspen and maple trees. Bird Walks: Today at Two Rivers Trail. Meet at 7:45 a.m. at Denny’s Restaurant (North on 1100 West from 21st Street in the Flying J Plaza) for breakfast or at 8:30 a.m. to carpool.
Sept. 19: Willard Bay State Park. Meet at McDonald’s (1838 W. 2700 North, just east of Exit 349 on I-15) at 7:45 a.m. for breakfast or at 8:15 to carpool. Remember this is a fee area.
WAS Meeting: 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St. The speaker is Wendy Wilson, Park Naturalist for Antelope Island State Park.
Annual Mount Ogden Homecoming Hike: Saturday. Registration 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Snowbasin. 8.4 miles round trip, 3,400-foot elevation gain. Start at Snowbasin parking lot, trail follows ski area access roads to saddle. Longer, more difficult hikes also via Taylor Canyon and Beus Canyon. The bus will pick up participants at University Village at 7:15 a.m. and the Browning Center at 7:35 a.m. The bus is first come, first served. Participants riding the bus can expect to return to WSU at approximately 4 p.m.
