Wild Wednesdays: Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Free for ONC members/$2 children/$3 seniors / $4 adults. Meet in the visitor center. Today’s topic is “Wild Autographs.” Can you walk like a bear? Are your feet larger than a skunk’s? Get the answers to these questions while learning how to identify the amazing autographs that animals leave behind.

Great Salt Lake: A Study of Nearby Residents’ Perspectives and Concerns: 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Free. Join Dr. Carla Trentelman from Weber State University as she presents findings, perspectives and concerns about Great Salt Lake held by the lake’s nearest neighbors — residents of western Davis and Weber Counties. Community members and officials will have the chance to interact and network with resource managers and members of organizations affiliated with the lake. Light refreshments will be provided. Fresh from the Garden: Herbed Vinegars and Oils: 6-7 p.m. September 27. $7 members/$9 non-members. Ages 12 and up. Teacher/naturalist Cheyenne Herland will help you combine fresh herbs from the Ogden Nature Center’s organic garden with oils and vinegars to create fabulous flavor sensations. These special recipes can be used to dress up your favorite summer salads or infuse your recipes with new secret ingredients. Please bring two of your own small glass bottles. This class will meet in the L.S. Peery Education Building. Please call to reserve your spot by 4 p.m. Sept. 26.

WASATCH AUDUBON

Bird Walks: Today at RR Trail near Willard Bay South. Meet at 7:45 a.m. at McDonald’s (1838 W. 2700 North, Farr West) for breakfast or at 8:15 a.m. to carpool.

Sept. 28: Green Pond (near Snowbasin). Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Dylan’s (12th & Monroe) for breakfast or at 8:15 a.m. to carpool (Smith’s parking lot, 12th & Harrison)

Field Trip: 8 a.m. Saturday. Annual Bird Box Cleanup. This is our annual opportunity to make sure our Bluebird Box residents have a clean home to move into when they return next spring. Meet at Smith’s (12th & Harrison). Bring a lunch and water.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge will host a “Wing Fling” event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to mark the reopening of its newly paved and improved auto tour route. The National Park Service is waiving all entrance fees and hosting special events Saturday at national parks throughout the country as part of its 18th annual National Public Lands Day. The service and the National Park Foundation have also partnered with Nickelodeon to host the eighth annual Worldwide Day of Play, which encourages kids and their families to engage in healthy and active lifestyles.
