OGDEN — The Ogden Valley Winter Sports Foundation and Amer Sports invite the community to attend Ogden’s Winter Welcome event on Friday at 5:30 p.m., at the David Eccles Conference Center.

The event, to celebrate Ogden’s rising reputation as the premier outdoor recreation city, it will be an opportunity to raise funds for young winter sport athletes in the community.

The event will also honor Mayor Matthew Godfrey for his 12 years of service and will provide a warm welcome for the incoming mayor.

This event will recognize the accomplishments of the outgoing mayor and the remarkable transformation of Ogden into a recognized center of outdoor sports and recreation.

“Mayor Matthew Godfrey has been instrumental in establishing Ogden as a Winter Sports Hub. This has brought multiple new businesses and families into Ogden,” said Dr. Jeff Harrison board president of the OVWSF.

Ogden’s Winter Welcome is an opportunity for the community to promote our local athletes as they strive for athletic and academic excellence.

OVWSF is a youth program that builds life-long passion for health, fitness, athletics and winter sports. OVWSF programs provide a fun and challenging way for youth to improve and develop skills at any level while achieving an active outdoor lifestyle. Programs include flexible seasonal training to highly-structured comprehensive year-round training for youth athletes.

More than 350 members participate in the OVWSF including alpine ski racers, snowboarders, all-mountain and cross-country skiers. The team is home to 140 Northern Utah athletes’ ages 6-18 who train and race locally as well as across the Western U.S., competing against top national junior racers. More than 30 skilled coaches assist the athletes.

The Winter Welcome celebration consists of a silent action that begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a live auction at 7:45 p.m.

The cost is $50 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10.

Proceeds benefit the Ogden Valley Winter Sports Foundation. Mountain casual attire is recommended. Tickets can be purchased online at ogdenwinterwelcome.eventbrite.com or for reservations RSVP to Rachel Miller at 801-628-8165 or Rachel@ovwsf.org.
